Oily Water Treatment System
Built on behalf of KH Technologies for NAVSEA, this oily water treatment system (OWTS) is a fully automatic water purification system that produces clean water at 50 gallons per minute (gpm) with less than 15 parts per million (ppm) oil content. We are particularly proud of this system and look forward to creating similar projects for military and commercial applications.
2010 R&D 100 Winner
Using our vertical mills with 5-axis trunnion tables to create 131,589 non-perpendicular holes in a disk less than 7 inches in diameter, we played a pivotal role in developing a critical component used in Las Alamos National Laboratory’s MOXIE – the world’s fastest and most flexible camera.
Tank Inspection Assembly and Titanium Fixtures for the Nuclear Industry
The tank inspection assembly and titanium fixtures were particularly challenging because of the multiple components that required extreme precision with tight tolerances. These are just a few examples of the many assemblies, fixtures, and tooling we have created for the nuclear industry.
Titanium Base Plates for Oceanic Applications
Titanium is one of the hardest metals to machine, and for the same reason, it’s ideal for corrosive environments. L&R has created multiple variations of titanium base plates for submarine antenna systems.
Specialized Aluminum Plate for the Defense Industry
Nothing says complex specifications, tight tolerances, and challenging material like this particular DOD project that required over 131,500 holes at various angles to the surface. Our expert machinists used our 5-axis mills with trunnion tables to reach the extremely tight tolerances required.
Wave Guide Blocks
As a component of NRAO’s ALMA Antenna Array, creating these power amplifier blocks required a perfect surface finish along the curving sideways.
