5-Axis Programmer

We are seeking a CNC Vertical Mill Machinist with a minimum of 5 years of experience in 3+2 or 5-axis simultaneous programming using MasterCam and Haas controls. Experience with Okuma controls would be a plus, and other CAD/CAM software experience will be considered. This position will typically be 50 hours a week, with opportunities for additional overtime, including the occasional Saturday. Applicants must be able to work overtime as needed.

5-Axis Programmer Job Duties:

  • An overall desire to deliver efficiencies via the ability to be creative when and where it’s appropriate in the areas of programming, tooling, and multi-tasking
  • Ability to communicate well with customers’ Engineering and Technical Staff and Vendors to facilitate open communication towards efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Fixture design and setup procedure implementation
  • An understanding of and ability to install equipment such as rotary indexers and trunnion tables
  • Knowledge and implementation of polishing and deburring methods
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of alloys, including titanium and Inconel
  • Ability to utilize a wide variety of inspection equipment. A working knowledge of PC-DMIS CMM Inspection Software would be a plus.

2nd Shift CNC Setup Machinist

L&R Precision Machining & Manufacturing is searching for a 2nd shift CNC Setup Machinist with a minimum of 5 years of experience. The individual selected will be capable of setting up and operating either Fanuc, Haas, or Okuma-controlled CNC machining centers using Mastercam software. Multi-axis turning experience would be a plus. This is a full-time position with the opportunity for overtime as the workload demands. Applicants must be able to work overtime as needed.

CNC Setup Machinist Job Duties:

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and understand mechanical blueprints.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to read and edit G code programs.
  • Can identify proper tooling and check gages according to layout sheets.
  • Able to set up the job from scratch by reading the layout sheet and print.
  • Can verify tolerances using measuring instruments such as dial indicator, gauge blocks, micrometers, profilometer, and CMMs.
  • Precise measuring skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot normal program and machine issues with little or no assistance required.
  • Ability to inspect the product for conformity to print before 1st piece or final inspection operations.
  • Must have strong math skills.
  • Able to maintain surface finishes and tolerances according to print and customer requirements.
  • Able to use a scanner to collect and enter production data accurately.
  • Able to follow ISO 9000 & AS9100 procedures and requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work area.
  • Follow all safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Work as a team member or independently, as the job requires, to continuously improve our processes.
  • Excellent work ethic with good attendance.
  • Deburr and part mark as needed.
  • Operates one or more CNC machines, dependent upon cycle times.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours/a day).
  • See Well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Ability to wear safety equipment such as safety glasses, face shields, etc.
  • Requires good eye and hand coordination to work safely around the machines.

CNC Machinists

CNC Horizontal & Vertical Machinist

We are looking for talented CNC Machinists with at least 5 years of experience in horizontal and/or vertical machining with the skills to produce high-quality complex parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. This is a full-time opportunity with chances of additional overtime as needed.

CNC Machinist Job Duties:

  • Consistently produces high-quality parts that meet the print requirements in a timely manner while holding tolerances of +/- .0002”.
  • Able to stand and work in a fast-paced production environment for 10 or more hours during each shift.
  • Able to safely lift 50 pounds several times during a shift to load machines.
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread-chasing operations.
  • Taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Programming skills with the ability to use Mastercam are a bonus but not required.

Manual Machinist

We are looking for a highly skilled manual machinist for our Small Quantity and Prototype department, capable of setting up, programming, and operating a ProtoTrak Mill and ProtoTrak Lathe along with surface grinding. Additionally, experience with wire EDM would be a plus. Because L&R specializes in complex specifications in a wide range of materials, including aluminum and Inconel, while holding tolerances as low as +/- .0002”, this position requires 5 years of experience, or we would consider a candidate with a Machinist Degree from an accredited college program with less experience. This position typically requires 40 to 50 hours a week, with overtime as needed to accommodate our customer workload.

Quality Control Inspector

As an ISO 9001:2015/AS9100D-certified machine shop, we take quality very seriously, and we’re looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our dedicated Quality Assurance Department. The right candidate will have the skills to inspect machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects and deviations from specifications using precision measuring instruments and complex inspection equipment to verify tolerances of +/- .0002″. You will also prepare products for shipment and laser mark parts. This is a full-time position with 40 to 50 hours a week with additional overtime as needed to accommodate our customer workload.

Quality Control Inspector Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Control final inspections, or we will consider a candidate who has graduated from an accredited school with a Quality Inspection Degree.
  • Experience with PC DMIS or equivalent software as used with CMMs.
  • Experience in internal auditing of ISO 9001/AS9100 systems would be a plus.
